Gynecomastia, a condition of over-developed or enlarged breast in men, is common in men of any age and can be corrected with a safe outpatient procedure. It can be result of hormonal changes, heredity conditions, disease or the use of certain drugs.
This condition can cause emotional discomfort and impair self-confidence; some men may even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy, simply to hide their condition.
Gynecomastia is characterized by excess localized fat and/or excess glandular tissue and may be present in one or both breasts.
In cases where gynecomastia is primarily the result of excess tissue or glandular tissue, liposuction techniques alone may be used. Excision techniques are recommended where excess glandular tissue or excess skin must be removed to correct gynecomastia. Incision patterns vary depending on the specific conditions that must be corrected.
Many of Dr. Mazaheri’s patients who seek gynecomastia also consider liposuction.
