About the Tummy Tuck Procedure
Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is designed to firm and smooth the abdomen.
This cosmetic procedure removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and may also tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. Women and men alike benefit from an abdominoplasty procedure. Typically the ideal candidate is in relatively good shape, but have loose abdominal skin and/or a significant amount of abdominal fat that won’t respond to dieting or exercise. The results of this procedure provide a smooth, tight midriff.
Generally, a tummy tuck procedure is performed as outpatient surgery using IV sedation or general anesthesia and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. During your surgery, you will be under the care of Dr. Mazaheri. Rest assured that Dr. Mazaheri is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 16 years of experience in body contouring and tummy tuck procedures. Dr. Mazaheri specializes in creating long-lasting, customized results.
Are You a Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
You may be a good candidate for a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) if you have one or more of the following conditions:
- Excess or loose abdominal skin, often the result of massive weight loss
- An abdomen that protrudes and is out of proportion to the rest of the body
- Abdominal muscles that have been weakened by pregnancy or aging
- Excess fat that is concentrated beneath the abdominal skin
Those exploring abdominoplasty that have plans to become pregnant or lose a significant amount of weight should discuss these plans with Dr.Mazaheri.
At your consultation with Dr. Mazaheri, you can expect to discuss likely procedure outcomes, and determine if you are a good candidate for a tummy tuck. It is recommended that you use your consultation time to ask Dr. Mazaheri questions and voice concerns you may have. Together, you will decide on the best surgical plan that fits all of your needs. By doing this, you will find comfort and relaxation come procedure day, knowing that you are equipped with answers and better know what to expect. You’ll be confident that in choosing Dr. Mazaheri, you’re choosing the best tummy tuck in Scottsdale and Beverly Hills!
The Tummy Tuck Recovery Process
After surgery, you will be required to stay the night at a recovery care center. There are multiple reasons Dr. Mazaheri requires this. In order to decrease the chance of blood clots in your legs, sequential compression stockings are used while you are in bed and under professional care.
To decrease your risk further, a special medication is administered under your skin during your overnight stay. Equally important, trained medical staff will be monitoring your vital signs and assure that you are kept comfortable.
Additionally, Dr. Mazaheri recommends that you take 7-14 days off of work after your tummy tuck. After that time, the majority of patients are able to perform most of their usual daily activities. However, there can be exceptions to this, and Dr. Mazaheri will work with you to determine if more recovery time is needed.
